On Being Thankful

It’s only natural to reflect on the things you are most thankful for this time of year.  I’ve touched on these things before, here, here, and here.

My Faith

When I turned 30, I mentioned that my faith is strong and that I trust the plan that God has chosen for me.  I find that with each day that passes, my faith grows deeper and my relationship with God strengthens even more.  I still have so much more to learn, but I am thankful for where I am.  I find it easier and more comforting today to leave those things that I cannot control to God and for that I am truly thankful.

My Husband

I am thankful and so very proud to be married to Thomas.  Thomas is the kind of person that anyone can count on and that quality comes so naturally to him.  He views life with such positivity (which isn’t always easy in his profession) and lives each day to the fullest.  I am truly blessed to be able to call him my husband.

Our Family

I noticed early on in our relationship that Thomas and I value family in the same way.  Our family and families are so very important to us.  Without their love and support, we wouldn’t be where we are today.

Our Friends

I truly have the best friends (near and far) that anyone could ask for.  Although distance may keep some of us from seeing each other regularly, when we are together, it’s like nothing has changed.  I also “married into” an awesome set of friends.  I am so grateful for all the memories we have made and look forward to many more happy times to come!

Our Home

If you’ve read my about page, you know that Thomas and I bought our house in March of 2011.  We were very lucky to find a house in great condition, just needing a little updating.  Although our to do list may be long, we are enjoying the process of turning the house that we bought into our forever home.

It is so easy to get caught up in the craziness of life (I am definitely guilty of this) and forget about the things that matter the most.  I think this quote sums it up...

Bits and Pieces

Hey guys, Jack here.  I thought I would share some bits and pieces from my week on my mom's blog.  She's pretty cool.  Although, she has a tendency to say some strange things that I just don't understand (or really pay attention to) like, no, stop, and stay.  Weird.

Anyway, this week didn't stray (no dog pun intended) very far from the norm.  I wake up around 7 everyday.  My parents usually try to wake me up when they get up, but I just give them the ol' "I'm still in a deep sleep and don't even know you are standing over me" act.

It usually works pretty well.

I spend my afternoons in the kitchen.  It's pretty spacious, so that's cool.  However, Lily gets reign of the whole house, so that's not cool.  I just don't get why my parents don't trust me.

My dad usually gets home from work first, which is fine by me, because he's the best.  No, really.  Have you met him?  Because he is the coolest person on the face of the earth.  I'm pretty much obsessed and do my very best not to leave his side.

So, after hanging out and playing some ball with dad comes dinner.  I pay extra close attention to the floor around dinner time.  You never know when something is going to fall off the counter and you'll have to act with lightning speed.  I mean, they don't call my lunchbox for nothing.  I love food.

After dinner it's time to relax.  I have a love/hate relationship with relaxing.  It's great and all, but sometimes I'm just SO EXCITED for no reason at all.  Does that ever happen to you?

Well, there you have it.  Now it's time for the weekend and that means dad's home all day, I get to go for rides in the car, and maybe, just maybe, a trip to the dog park!

Later gators,
Jack

Bits and Pieces

There is no doubt that this has been an emotional week for all.  Thinking of those affected by Hurricane Sandy and praying for a speedy recovery.

Sending lots of love to my family and friends in the Northeast!

xoxo
